I am the founder of The National Resource Society for Women Veterans, Inc. Retired Army after 21 years, and a survivor of domestic violence while in the military. I created my nonprofit so that I may encourage, and support my fellow SHE VETS during or after serving in the military.
Although, it's been a while, the trauma still tries to capture my thoughts from time to time. I realize, that it can only have to part of my mind that I surender to it. Even though that was a trying time in my life, everyday gets better and I find more and more strength as I give back. I want each of you to know that we care. We care enough to find enough strength to carry out our God given dreams to help prevent this situation for happing to others. You didn't deserve what may have happened, as neither did I , but I had to learn to love myself more than my offender so that I could move on with my life.
It wasn't until I realized that if I didn't, I was giving him more control (this time over my future). I commend you ladies for joining this group, and invite you to live your life to it's fullest! You only have one time to live in this body. Take care of it, and live like you love yourself more that those who you love (not conceedingly, but honorably). It's then will you understand, life has so much to offer you, and it's not worth laying it aside to waste.
I look forward to communicating with you, and you be BLESSED!
